Enterprise iOS, Part 1: Genentech + Moovweb + more

Details

This topic is way too big to cover in a single evening, but let's get started.

Genentech

I recently saw a fabulous presentation by Chris O'Connor and Dan McCullough of Genentech about some of the apps they've created at Genentech. Did you know that Genentech has over 16 custom internal apps? Chris and Dan will be at our November meetup to tell us about some of them and to give us some tips for app success in the enterprise (and warnings about HIPPOs!).

Moovweb

Moovweb is a cloud-based proxy service for taking desktop websites to the mobile browsers and app stores. The proxy has served over 3 billion mobile requests to power mobile experiences for backcountry.com, netflix.com, craigslist.org, universalweather.com, steepandcheap.com, wikipedia.org, speeddate.com, plus many others under development. Moovweb is based in SF, is profitable, growing, and was initially funded by Andy Bechtolsheim and Inventures Group.

Ajay Kapur of Moovweb will demo Moovweb and tell us about his experiences working with many well-known brands and companies.

Demos

We'll also have some time for demos, so if you've got an enterprise-related app or project, please email me about presenting it. See you soon!

Hi Glen, if so, I'm not aware of it. In their place, you might find this useful, a recent article about Chris in Technology Review: http://www.techreview.com/business/26645/

This was one of the best meetup events I attended during recent times. All four presentations were very impressive. Chris O'Connor was great speaker. Demos (specially the collaborative sketchpad) was awesome!
Heartfelt THANKS to Tim burks for arranging such an event.

This pathetic problem with stupid waiting lists and shoestring budgets is real tiresome crapola. Get real, people. Does anyone actually think that wasting people's time with mickey mouse b.s. impresses anyone?
