Details
We held our first iPhone developer meetup in April 2008 at Cupertino Community Hall, and on November 5 we'll be back in Cupertino, but this time at Apple's campus on Infinite Loop. Made possible by our friends at Apple, this meetup will provide opportunities for networking and will feature a technical talk from a member of the iOS Apps and Frameworks team titled The Story of a Pixel.
Space is limited, so we'll only be able to provide admission to people confirmed on the RSVP "YES" list, and for building security we'll need you to provide your full name and an email address with your RSVP. For fun I've also added a few survey questions about your app development experience. We'll share the results at the meetup.
DIRECTIONS
We'll be in Apple's Town Hall Auditorium at 4 Infinite Loop. If you've never been to Apple's campus, take a look at this Wikipedia page for reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Campus . There are six buildings around the Infinite Loop circle, so 4 Infinite Loop is directly opposite the main entrance.
Please do not try to enter through the front entrance (at IL1). When driving to the meetup, instead drive all the way around to the back side of the loop and park near the IL4 entrance. That will be the only entrance available for the meetup.
To avoid parking problems, please plan to arrive at 6:30 or later. There will be a single talk tonight, so it won't start until at least 7:30, giving us plenty of time to arrive, eat pizza, and mingle.
WORD
Thanks everyone for all the patience you've shown with this process. With events as exciting as this one, it seems that organizers either use price to control demand or are overwhelmed by it. We wanted this to be free, which unfortunately means that there are many people on the waitlist that we won't be able to admit. However, let's make this a great success for Apple and see where we go next.
In addition to Apple's technical team, a few members of Apple's recruiting staff will be available tonight. So if you're interested in working at Apple, come prepared!
And if you think this is good, there's a lot more happening at Renaissance (http://renaissance.io). Early registrations are available now (http://renaissance2014.eventbrite.com). Don't wait for them to sell out.

Is there a way we can get the slides from the talk...? Or did anyone record the session? Thank you so much!

Still waiting...any info regarding WebEx or Go-to-Meeting style access?
4,169 days ago
Hi, if you have a "YES" RSVP and won't be able to attend today, please update your reply by 9am. RSVPs will close then so that we can get a final list of names to Apple Campus Security.
As noted, we'll only be able to provide admission to people on the "YES" list, but if you can't join us for this one, more great events are coming.

Thank you for the clarification. I was not sure how close to the event wait listers will be notified. If I don't read from you all then best wishes and I hope you have a great event. Larer

I am new to this. Although there is a wait list, should wait listed people show up, just in case a space open up? I'm asking because I'm a 100 deep down the list.
4,169 days ago
Tim said that only confirmed attendees will be on the white list to enter the building at Apple. So no Waiting List members will be able to get in the door. Here is the reference comment: https://www.meetup.com/sviphone/events/146284422/comments/266601282/

Got sick, hopefully someone can be still added to the attendee list.
4,170 days ago
Bummer that there's no room for people on the waitlist. I was very interested in attending.
4,170 days ago
To echo someone else's question, for the benefit of first time visitors to the Apple campus, please update the description with details in the best way to park and get to the venue once entering the Apple campus from DeAnza Blvd., or on the Infinite Loop. Thanks and looking forward to the Meetup.
4,170 days ago
Parking (to my knowledge) is very straight forward. The six buildings are surrounded by outdoor parking lots. Find a spot, park.
Google maps will show you the exact building and directions. Infinite Loop 1 is the main building in the front. I believe that is now listed as the event location.

IL4 is on the opposite side of the campus as the main entrance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Campus

Tim, thanks for updating the event description with the requested details. Cheers!

Is anyone driving from SF (Mission) to Cupertino tomorrow and able to give a ride by any chance?
4,170 days ago
Ronald- I plan to go. I'm in the Panhandle. Give me a yell: sgrigory@gmail.com

Perhaps more details on the event, will help people decide if they want to really attend. Could help others in the waitlist.
4,170 days ago
I'm guessing it might be a recent retiree?
4,170 days ago
Any details on the topic for tomorrow (other than "a technical talk about iOS 7") or directions for what building to go to?

Thanks for the updated details in the description!

Hi , I wonder any chance I can get into this meet up . I have been in waiting list for three weeks.
4,173 days ago
Based on Tim's previous comments it sounds like it's automatic via Meetup and it's FIFO..
4,173 days ago
Hi, that's right, the waiting list is automatic, which means that people at the top of the list are automatically moved to "YES" when anyone changes their RSVP from "YES" to "NO".
4,174 days ago
Some other thing came up, I have changed my RSVP to No. Have a great event everyone!
4,174 days ago
I'm going to do someone a favor! About to change my RSVP because I can't attend. Please send good karma my way :-)
4,174 days ago
Do I receive anything in case status change from Waitlist to Attending list?
4,174 days ago
You should get an email from meetup.
4,176 days ago
Do Apple employees need to register to attend?
4,174 days ago
Hi Michael, no, I don't think so.
4,173 days ago
If registering is about controlling the number who attend then Apple employees would have to register.
4,173 days ago
Diana, If you've been to a WWDC, you've probably seen Apple employees lined up outside sessions in a separate line. That's so they can get in after all the registered attendees have gotten in. That's likely to be the pattern at our meetup, and frankly I think that the more Apple employees who attend, the better it is for the people who get in.
4,173 days ago
Frank, yes, the meetup area is in an area of Apple's campus that any employee can enter, but that's restricted for those of us who aren't Apple employees.
4,176 days ago
Hey TIm,
Just be careful if you start banning people. I showed up 5 minutes late to the Yahoo! meetup and they weren't checking people in. I think several of us were missed.
Thanks for all you do!
- Jon
4,174 days ago
Hi Jon, I'm way too disorganized to start doing that :)
4,176 days ago
Hi, I just sent an initial block of names to our hosts. When I did, I noticed that a few people didn't register with full names, typically by not providing their full name with their meetup account and by not answering the additional survey question that I added with the RSVP form.
Unfortunately, we won't have badges for people who don't register with full names. If you'd like to correct your registration, please email me your full name and meetup account, or better yet, update your meetup.com account name and this will be fixed automatically. Thanks!
4,177 days ago
Natch.
4,178 days ago
Hope everyone is honest with their RSVP and doesn't wait till last minute to change their answer.
4,177 days ago
Hi Tom, I have the list of attendees at last week's Yahoo meetup, which one could use to derive the no-shows. Should they buy kneecap insurance?
4,177 days ago
Ohhhhh. I like it.
4,177 days ago
You might want to consider it, because some people who are on the waiting list right now really want to come and it would be sad to have no-shows for such a popular event :)
4,177 days ago
If they don't show and don't cancel, does MeetUp allow the blocking of signing up for say the next 3 events? #PenaltyBox
4,177 days ago
I am from Jersey. Give me a list of names, I make a phone call, problem solved.
4,172 days ago
In my case, I was fairly sure at the time of my registration that I wouldn't be working on election day. However, I found out yesterday from the election office I'll be needed to work all day as an official on Tuesday (from 6 am to 10 pm). Since I won't be going to the meetup, if the FIFO auto-process is working properly, the lucky person on the waitlist probably going instead of myself will either be Christopher (no last name), Oscar Vera or KC Leung.
4,178 days ago
Is there an agenda posted? (Sorry, I'm being blind, this morning. :)
4,178 days ago
I've seen it, but if I told you I'd have to... uh, it's pending final approval but I'll try to get it posted this week. It will definitely be worth the ride over the hill for you, Ted.
4,177 days ago
Hi Tim, for us on the waitlist, can we come stand by the door just in case there are no shows and get in?
4,177 days ago
Hi Katy, unfortunately this is our host's policy - they don't want to have to turn anyone away and since this is an unusual event, the no-show rate is impossible to predict.
4,177 days ago
No, only the list of "yes" RSVPs.
4,185 days ago
I'd say charge $5 or $10, spend it on (even better) food and that way make sure people will actually show up and not occupy a seat for somebody else.
4,185 days ago
That is a bad idea, Tim, don't charge like other meetups..keep it free :)
4,185 days ago
Suyash: I've been considering having a special ticket price just for you :)
4,187 days ago
Well that's annoying. Closed for RSVP yesterday, full today. Is this WWDC or something?
4,187 days ago
Julian, get ready. I dont need to RSVP so you can have my spot. in 2 minutes I will change my RSVP and a spot should open up.
4,187 days ago
Sorry, that's not how the meetup waitlist works - the waiting list is automatic. As people cancel, spots are offered in the order people joined the waitlist. I'll try to get as much capacity as we can and to encourage people who can't make it to update their RSVPs ASAP.
4,187 days ago
Actually (being pedantic) I usually set RSVPs to open a month (31 days) before an event. But for this particular meetup at Apple, I didn't create the listing until today. Julian, perhaps you saw the listing for the Nov 18 meetup at Quantcast, which is still on (and registrations for that one will open tonight).
