Musical Meetup at Macworld/iWorld with Smule and moForte!

Details

This year we've been offered a special opportunity to meet at Macworld, and following the many creative tools and apps that have appeared there, we'll be focusing on music and music apps.

We've got two great talks planned. First we'll hear from Smule (http://smule.com)'s Chief Product and Design Officer Jeannie Yang and Nick Kruge, Smule's Director of Product Design. They'll be giving a brief overview of their design process followed by an in-depth look into the interaction design and audio of their latest app "Guitar!".

Then Pat Scandalis of moForte.com (http://www.moforte.com) will talk about generating music in real time by physically modeling musical instruments... on mobile devices! Check out this video (http://youtu.be/DFdaJgf_DTk) of moForte's first app.

Also, Alohar Mobile (https://www.alohar.com) will be giving away an iPad! To enter, we'll ask you to share your name and email address with them using Aleksey Novicov's new Slip app. We'll have a special version of Slip at the meetup to collect entries and to run the drawing. To be ready, download Slip from the App Store (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/slip/id752228884?mt=8) and be sure that you have your name and email address in your iPhone address book.

Please note that since we'll be meeting inside the conference center, a Macworld pass will be required to attend. If you don't have a pass to Macworld yet and won't be attending the full conference, you can use the promo code "DMU" to get a $10 Exhibits Only pass to Macworld/iWorld.

And if that's not enough (how could it not be?) we have a late addition to our speakers: Mark Godfrey, the lead developer and audio guru of Smule's auto rap. He'll be joining to speak about the autorap 2.0 that was released yesterday (currently featured under best new apps in AppStore).

As always Tim Burks hosted a great MeetUp, with excellent topic speakers, great location (and even an iPad top prize and 12+ book prizes for the guests!). My most useful MeetUp every month. Thank you to the speakers and the prize contributors for all their hard work and support!

Alohar Mobile will giving away an iPad at our meetup on Friday.

Here's how we're going to do it.

To enter, download Aleksey Novicov's Slip contact-sharing app from the App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/slip/id752228884?mt=8

Then when you arrive, find Aleksey and use Slip to share your name and email address with him. He'll have a customized version of Slip running on his iPad that will collect and number all the entries.

To do the giveaway, we'll ask people in the room for three random words which we'll enter into the app. The app will then hash those keywords to get a number that will choose the winner, who will then get an email with instructions on how to claim the iPad.

Crazy scheme? We'll see tomorrow! Thanks Aleksey and Alvin Lau for providing the prize!

Turns out I will not be able to make it up to the city by 4pm, so I have sadly skip this meetup. See you at the next!

Hi Tim, would the $10 pass be enough to get into this meetup or will we need the actual conference pass?

Hi, I'm glad you asked. To clarify: yes, the $10 expo pass is all that anyone needs for the meetup.
