Back your App with Google Cloud Services and Go

Details

Google App Engine has come a long way since we first looked at it in 2010 (https://www.meetup.com/sviphone/events/12372267/). Google has added new services, languages, and infrastructure, and over the years, App Engine has been used to build large popular apps (http://www.businessinsider.com/snapchat-is-built-on-googles-cloud-2014-1).

I asked some friends at Google to help us get a fresh look at Google Cloud Platform (https://cloud.google.com), and we'll be getting that this month.

We'll hear from Terrence Ryan (http://terrenceryan.com), a developer advocate for Google Cloud Platform. He'll show us how we can use Google's cloud to add lots of important services to our apps: web sites, cloud storage, inexpensive backups, and APIs. We'll also talk about Google's Go language (http://golang.org), which has become my (and many others' (https://github.com/golang/go/wiki/GoUsers)) favorite tool for building online services.

Don't miss this chance to get an inside look at an amazingly powerful tool in a presentation tailored for app makers.

Based on experience using Google Cloud Services for UserSource.io (the in-app feedback SDK) we've expanded use of Google Cloud when building other social and photo-sharing apps supporting hundreds and thousands of concurrent users. I'll share some details on blog.usersource.io. And BTW, we found it about as straightforward to integrate with Apple Push Notifications from app-engine as from other environments.
