Bring your laptops! GoDaddy's Derek Selander (https://www.linkedin.com/in/derek-selander-32269441) will be taking us on a deep dive into iOS security and hacking on May 23 at GoDaddy's offices in Sunnyvale.
Don’t Check for Jailbreaks: iOS Security & Lab
Derek will talk about runtime manipulation of a real App Store app of his choosing and show us how to find and patch methods. Then he'll lead us through a follow-along lab where we'll manipulate the SpringBoard (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpringBoard) app in the iOS simulator.
Get ready!
To get the most out of the lab, download Derek's sample before the meetup from https://github.com/DerekSelander/SpringBoardPOC - and don't forget your laptop!
Derek Selander (https://www.linkedin.com/in/derek-selander-32269441) (@lolgrep (https://twitter.com/lolgrep)) is Denver-based iOS developer with GoDaddy and a frequent conference speaker and contributor to Ray Wenderlich's tutorial empire. Read more of his work on raywenderlich.com (https://www.raywenderlich.com/u/Lolgrep).
Bonus
Recently I've stumbled upon a few new companies and teams building interesting tools for developers. Time permitting, we may have short presentations from one or two of them at our May 23 meetup (watch this space for updates).
Applause
Thanks to Brendan Clavin of GoDaddy for making this happen!

Hi guys,
is there any meeting planed for the WWDC week? I'll be giving a talk at AltConf, so if anyone wants to share a beer (or 2 ;-)), just let me know.
And no, I didn't get a Wonka's Golden Ticket for WWDC... :-P

Hey... I am happy enough with the repo's README.md. I've included the slides (with specific examples of using the points in the slides on the SpringBoard app), and have added a bunch of gifs to make following along on the lab easier. I've also added some challenges if this stuff interests you at the bottom.

Even for the people that went, there might be some good tidbits for debugging that will be useful for your day-to-day non-reverse engineering activities.
Any areas that are unclear or you think are wrong just create an issue and I'll get to it.

Thanks Derek for a great talk and the link!

This is my favorite of all of the iOS meetups I've ever attended. I don't intend to jailbreak my phone and start hacking apps, but this talk inspired me to deep dive on lldb.

Pulling an audible on y'all. I want to spend a bit of time talking about custom LLDB scripts for finding items of interest. I've added a python script to the repo that will dump all the class/instance methods for a particular class when using LLDB.
Although this update is not required for the lab, it is a fun/easy way to explore classes in a stripped binary.
Pull latest and follow install instructions :]

hi guys can you arrange this meet up to be online for streaming or post on YouTube or something, so that it can be available to members outside U.S

Hey Krishna. Given some of the content I am presenting, I am not comfortable with video recording of any kind during this talk. I will, however, update the README.md of my sample project with very detailed instructions of what we did during the lab soon after this meetup has occurred.

Okay sure. Thanks Derek :)
