We're back in December with two talks that I'm excited to see. Instagram's Greg Heo will be talking about Swift 3 and IBM's David Okun will introduce us to Kitura, IBM's framework for building web sites and APIs with Swift.
Swift 3 Spelunking (Greg Heo)
In this session, you’ll learn about the highlights of Swift 3, hear some thoughts on big picture themes around what changed, and finally there will be some some prognostication on what's coming up in Swift 4. Note that prognostication is much easier when dealing with an open source project with an active mailing list ;)
If you haven't made the leap into Swift 3 yet, this is a great time with Swift 2’s deprecation just around the corner. If you’re already on the Swift 3 train, it's always a good idea to keep an eye on what's coming up in Swift 4.
About Kitura (David Okun)
Created by IBM, Kitura is a high performance and simple to use web framework for building modern Swift applications. You can run it in any environment that supports Swift: your development Mac, your Mac server (if you have one), or Linux-based VMs and containers that you can easily set up for just a few dollars a month. Simplify your application development by writing your front and back-ends in the same language, and do it with an open-source language and components. Everything that you need to run Kitura is on GitHub (https://github.com/IBM-Swift/Kitura).
I have some great people to thank for bringing this together: Doris Chen from Microsoft for providing the Reactor Space, Greg and David for speaking, and IBM's Carl Brown for introducing me to David.
We'll have pizza at the meetup sponsored by Google.

This was a great meet up - Greg is awesome, super smart and it was cool meeting him in person after seeing so many rayWenderlich videos that he regularly hosts.
The speakers took time to sit and talk to us in depths about what they had just discussed, and I got to speak to some other great guys and girls about the things they were working on!
